93X Radio Interview: Get Denarded!

The folks over at 93X in Minnesota were awesome enough to feature our newest shirt and do an interview with me during their Half Assed Morning Show! I couldn’t have been more excited, having lived in the Twin Cities for most of my life and also having been a huge 93X listener while growing up. Check out this audio clip from the show that my friend Mizy put together. I’ve also gotta give special props to Mizy for suggesting the Let’s Get Denarded shirt, wouldn’t be having all of this fun without his great idea.

Tee Hunter Interview Recap

To start the year off right for both of us, my good friend over at Tee Hunter set up an interview to see how I brought the Seventh.Ink brand from 0 to 60 over the course of 2009.

The Tee Hunter site is well-known among indie designers for showcasing great shirt designs and providing a solid index of brands that are popular today. If you haven’t seen the Tee Hunter site, I suggest you check it out because they’ve really got something good going on.

Regarding the interview, here’s a recap of a portion of what went down. The full interview can be read here.

TH: Your brand has come a long way in 2009! What led to such a profound increase in design quality not only aesthetically but creatively too?

MJ: Thanks, I appreciate that comment! 2009 was a great year for the Seventh.Ink brand because I took it a step or two further with more involved designs. This led to a strong response from a lot of people, and it only fueled the fire and pushed me further along.

The shirt that really helped my brand break through was the Night of the Living Bread design, which came out at the end of September. I really loved the idea, and I put it up as a pre-sale on my site. Within a week the pre-sale had already sold out and I had to reorder! I realized then that a strong combination of wit and tasty illustration was what really made this shirt stand out from the rest of my catalog. I then took that combination and applied it to my Tyrannosaurus Rockstar and Last One Standing designs, which have done really well.
